Someone once said, “Life is a never ending journey”. I believe in this statement from the bottom of my heart. Till the time we stop taking our last breath, we never stop planning, we never stop dreaming or we never stop thinking about our future. Whether we are in our teens when we dream of having a great job with a secured future or after our retirement when we dream of having a grandchild playing at our backyard, we just never stop hoping.
While you are planning on achieving your goals, you are setting them too. But are you setting your goals the right way? There are a lot of mistakes you make while setting your goal. Take a look – 1. Being conflicted on your own identity – If you do not know what you want to be in the future or you are not sure yet, do not set your goal. Setting goals while you are unsure, will conflict your own identity and the purpose of your life. 2. Setting goals you have no control over – You should have the ability to have control over your goals. If you set goals which is out of your control or depends on others, then it will put all the success in other’s hands; would you like others to take credits over your goal? 3. Not taking rejections and Failures well – Rejections and failures are part and parcel of the game. You cannot be sure of getting things done 100% at one go. There may be times when you have to face a lot of issues or rejections while you are trying to achieve something. But you need to appreciate those. You must know how to handle those, learn from them and proceed with the next step. 4. Setting too many goals – Although multi-tasking is good, it is not at all advisable to set too many goals. When you have too many things to do at once, you end up becoming a rolling stone which gathers no moss. Stick to one goal at a time. 5. Underestimating the value of time – Time plays a huge role in your life. When you set a goal, it means you have to achieve it within a given period of time. But if you underestimate the deadline, or do not hold any value towards time, then you are making a big mistake. Make sure you always concentrate on the time. Setting goals aren’t quite a tough thing to do. Sticking to one is the thing. Here is why “Finding Balance” is providing you goal setting worksheet so that you can easily learn how to stick to your goal unless you achieve it.
